Deviousness |
And yes, the fact that she was once Alliance human (which seems to be the stock that most of the Forsaken arise from) and helplessness of the babe...all the conflict and emotion that had gone out, now re-lit on her face.
Great image and I love the chaos of the background treatment. Love the color, and the light on the little details like the medallion, baby's eyes, piping on her uniform.
The undead woman finds a child and she lifts it, but her thoughts of 'what to do with this' are struck short by an emotion that she would be hard-pressed to describe. And the baby is everything that is gone from her. The thing she holds in her never-warming hands is the quintessence of life. Far from being repulsed by the undead woman, the baby simply accepts her as she is. Where others would be afraid or disgusted, all she sees is a shiny thing to hold in her hand, another face to coo at wonderingly.
The woman's former role as a human - enemy and slayer/enslaver of the orcs - lends yet another angle to the multifaceted subject.
The word that flashes through my mind repeatedly is "Acceptance". And it's so beautiful that it's brutal and it hurts to contemplate. I am so grateful that you chose to paint this.
There are plenty of very talented artists out there, but the pieces lack content. I enjoy a good pinup type painting, but this really punches me in the heart.
